Vantage Self-Cleaning
The pool that cleans itself
The Compass Vantage in-floor cleaning system is built into the pool shell during manufacture. Rising nozzles sequenced across the floor sweep debris toward a central drain — eliminating the need for a manual or robotic pool cleaner across the whole life of the pool.
The technical detail — in plain English
During shell manufacture, Compass installs a series of small nozzles into the pool floor and walls. These nozzles rise briefly, one zone at a time in sequence, driven by a valve system in the pool's plumbing. The rising water jets sweep debris across the floor toward a central drain, where the pool's main filter captures it. When one zone finishes, the next takes over — top-to-bottom, side-to-side, the whole pool gets swept during your normal filter cycle. Because the nozzles are built into the shell, there's nothing sitting in your pool — no cord, no visible equipment, no cleaner to pull out before swimming.
Vantage in Central Queensland — the CQ view
Vantage is the single most-common upgrade quote we get asked for on Compass shells across the Rockhampton region. The reason it matters more in CQ than in cooler climates: our pool season runs six to eight months of the year, which means the maintenance overhead of a manual or robotic cleaner adds up fast. Vantage removes that entirely.
The additional benefit that matters specifically in our climate is water-temperature evening. During summer, a still pool can develop a warm surface layer sitting on cooler water beneath — Vantage’s constant water movement mixes the profile top-to-bottom, so the pool feels cooler on hot afternoons and doesn’t stratify. Not a headline feature Compass advertises, but a real quality-of-life difference we hear about from CQ owners.
What Vantage Self-Cleaning Means for Your Pool
The practical benefits — what changes for you as the owner across the life of your Compass pool.
No Robotic Cleaner Needed
You never buy one, never replace one, never pull one out to swim. That's a $2,000–$4,000 lifetime cost saving per replacement cycle.
Even Chemical Distribution
Constant water movement means chlorine and pH balancer reach every corner of the shell. No algae dead zones, no chemical hotspots.
Even Water Temperature
Top-to-bottom mixing means the surface doesn't get uncomfortably warm while the bottom stays cold. Real difference in Central Queensland summer.
25–40% Less Chemicals
Most owners see a meaningful reduction in sanitiser consumption across the year. That's real money, and less chemistry balance work.
Compatible with Every Shape
X-Trainer, Vogue, Sanctuary, Contemporary, Fastlane, and the larger Plunge sizes — Vantage is available on the whole shape catalogue.
No Ongoing Maintenance
The nozzles are self-cleaning by design and rated for the life of the pool. No annual service, no consumables, no owner action required.
How Vantage compares
The main alternative is a robotic pool cleaner — a portable unit that sits in the pool and scrubs the floor. Robotic cleaners cost $2,000–$4,000, need replacing every 5–8 years, need to be pulled out before swimming, and don't address chemical distribution or water temperature. Vantage is a one-time upgrade at build that eliminates all of that. For CQ climate where the pool is used most of the year, Vantage typically pays for itself in the first decade.

Vantage Self-Cleaning Questions — Answered
What CQ pool buyers most commonly ask us about Vantage.
Can I retrofit Vantage to an existing pool?
No — Vantage nozzles are built into the shell during manufacture, so it must be specified at time of order. This is why we bring up Vantage on the very first quote for every family who's interested.
How much extra does Vantage cost?
Vantage is a build-time upgrade to the shell. The premium varies with pool size, but we always cost it as a separate line item on the quote so you can compare with and without.
Does Vantage work with saltwater chlorinators?
Yes — Vantage integrates with saltwater chlorinators, mineral systems, and traditional chlorine dosing systems. The nozzle cycle runs on the pool's main pump.
Does it use more electricity?
Vantage runs on the pool's existing filter cycle — there's no additional pump or motor. The valve system that sequences the zones is passive. Owners see slightly higher filter cycle time (because the water needs to move) but no dramatic power increase.
What happens if a nozzle blocks?
The nozzle self-clears on the next cycle 95% of the time. If a specific nozzle persistently blocks (rare), it's replaceable during a normal service. Nothing you'd ever need to do as an owner.
Is Vantage worth it for a smaller pool?
Yes for Plunge 5.0 and up — the maintenance saving still applies. For the compact 2.8 and 3.8 sizes we usually recommend a good robotic cleaner instead — the pool's just too small for Vantage to make economic sense.
Does Vantage work with saltwater chlorinators?
Yes — Vantage is compatible with saltwater chlorinators, mineral pools and standard chlorine. The self-cleaning function is separate from the sanitising system; it just circulates and vacuums via the in-floor jets.
How much extra does Vantage cost at build time?
Typically 12-18% on top of the shell price depending on pool size and configuration. Retrofit is significantly more expensive and requires shell modifications, so we always recommend deciding at build time.
