Bi-Luminite 3D Colours
3D shimmer effect built into the shell
The Bi-Luminite gelcoat range creates a genuinely three-dimensional shimmer effect in the finished pool water. Nine colours from soft Pearl through to dark Evolution — all with a 25-year structural warranty and engineered for Australian UV.
The technical detail — in plain English
Traditional fibreglass pool gelcoats are essentially flat pigmented resins — one solid colour that reads the same at 8am and 4pm. Bi-Luminite adds micro-flake pigment particles that catch and refract light differently as the sun angle changes, giving the finished water a shimmering, three-dimensional appearance. It's the reason a Sapphire Bi-Luminite pool at midday looks completely different from the same pool at sunset. Both the Bi-Luminite and Vivid ranges are formulated specifically for Australian UV — noticeably better colour fastness over 25 years than the cheaper generic gelcoats on some competing fibreglass pools.
Bi-Luminite colours in CQ light
Central Queensland light is different from Sydney or Melbourne — brighter, harder, more directly overhead through much of the year. That changes how pool colours read in your yard, and it’s why we always recommend seeing the physical colour samples on-site rather than deciding from a screen.
What we see most often across the region: Sapphire (deep blue-navy shimmer) is the most-requested colour and reads beautifully in CQ light. Pacific (mid-blue) is close behind and works particularly well with lighter home colours. Evolution (dark, moody) has grown fast in popularity with modern architectural builds — it takes CQ light exceptionally well, going a rich dark teal in bright sun and a genuine near-black at dusk.
Every colour is available on every Compass shape at no premium. Colour choice is aesthetic — no pricing pressure from us either way.

How Bi-Luminite compares
Compared to concrete-pool tile or pebblecrete finishes: Bi-Luminite is a factory-applied gelcoat — no grout lines, no chip risk, no re-tiling in 15 years. Compared to cheaper fibreglass gelcoats: Bi-Luminite has documented better UV performance and a longer cosmetic warranty. The 3D shimmer effect is the visual reason people choose it; the UV formulation and warranty are the technical reasons.

Bi-Luminite 3D Colours Questions — Answered
What CQ pool buyers most commonly ask us about Bi-Luminite.
How is Bi-Luminite different from Vivid?
Bi-Luminite is a shimmer finish with micro-flake particles that give a 3D effect. Vivid is a solid marble-look finish — flatter, more contemporary, closer to a natural stone appearance. Both have the same 25-year structural warranty. Choice is aesthetic.
Does the colour fade in the Rocky sun?
Bi-Luminite and Vivid gelcoats are formulated specifically for Australian UV. Backed by a 10-year cosmetic warranty and, in practice, we've seen the same colours still looking freshly filled a decade later on installs across CQ.
Is there a premium for the darker colours?
No — every Bi-Luminite and Vivid colour is the same price. Choose Evolution, Sapphire or Vercoe with no cost impact vs the lighter Pearl or Pink Quartz.
Can I see samples before I decide?
Yes — every site visit includes the physical Compass colour sample book. Photos and website swatches can never do the shimmer effect justice; seeing the actual gelcoat sample in your yard's light is essential.
Which colour is most popular in CQ?
Sapphire (deep blue-navy shimmer) and Pacific (mid-blue) are the two most-requested colours across Central Queensland installs. Both give the classic tropical-pool look. Evolution (dark, moody) has been increasing rapidly in popularity with modern architectural homes.
Can I change my mind on colour after ordering?
Up to a certain build stage, yes — happy to accommodate colour changes if they come in before the shell hits the factory line. After that it's locked in. All practical detail we walk through on quote.
Do darker Bi-Luminite colours cost more?
No. Every Bi-Luminite and Vivid colour is priced the same — you can choose Evolution, Sapphire or the deep Viridian with no cost impact vs the lighter Pearl or Ivory Shimmer.
Which Bi-Luminite colour is most popular in Central Queensland?
Atlantic and Pacific are our most-quoted for classic CQ pool blue. Evolution has grown popular for modern architectural homes with dark landscaping. Pearl and Quartz for lighter, resort-style backyards.
