How it works

What makes the Combo Pools different

A Compass Combo Pool is a single seamless fibreglass shell that houses both a swimming zone and a spa — no visible join, no compromise on either side. Six configurations across three combo families: the new Fusion 8 (a full-size 8-metre pool with an integrated deep spa), the Sanctuary Pool Combos (our best-selling family shape in four sizes with an integrated spa), and the Plunge Pool Combos (compact courtyard-scale pool + pod combinations in two sizes).

The combo format gives you the swim, cooling and relaxation of a full pool plus proper hydrotherapy without giving up half the backyard to a separate structure. Shared plumbing and heating with independent temperature controls means you can run the spa hot for a Friday-night soak without heating the whole pool. In Central Queensland climate the combo makes particular sense because our shoulder seasons (April–May, September–October) are long enough that combo households can extend their swimming season with a heated spa.

“A combo is what most CQ families end up wishing they'd done from the start. If there's any chance you'd use a spa, cost it up-front — retrofitting one later is almost always more expensive than adding it during the original install.”
— Trent and the Gen2 Pools team

Combo pools in Central Queensland

Combo pools have grown from a niche upgrade to the default configuration for most family-scale Compass installs across the Rockhampton region. Two reasons: the CQ shoulder-season pool water gets cold enough that a heated spa meaningfully extends the usable months on both sides of summer, and the “cascade” mode (heated spa water spilling into the pool) is a genuinely useful way to warm the pool a few degrees without running the full pool heater.

Most-quoted combos across the Rockhampton region: X-Trainer 8.2 + spa (family workhorse), Sanctuary 7.0 or 7.9 + spa (modern architectural homes), Vogue 8.2 combo (entertainer scale), and Fastlane 12.3 combo (specialist swim + recovery). Sanctuary 7.9 in particular is a specific Compass combo configuration where the spa is integrated into the pool footprint rather than sitting alongside — worth looking at if the block is tight.

Worth knowing: if there’s any chance you’ll want a spa eventually, cost the combo up-front on the quote. Retrofitting a spa to an existing Compass pool later is almost always more expensive than the combo built from scratch — the plumbing loop, valve system and surrounding decking / coping all need reworking after the fact.

Combo Pools — questions answered

What Central Queensland pool buyers most commonly ask us about Combo Pools.

What is a Compass Combo Pool?

A single seamless fibreglass shell that houses both a pool and a spa — no visible join between the two. Six configurations across three combo families: Fusion 8 (flagship 8m pool + integrated deep spa), Sanctuary Combos (4 sizes with integrated spa), and Plunge Combos (2 courtyard sizes with integrated pod).

What is the Fusion 8 and how is it different?

The Fusion 8 is our newest combo — a single 8m × 3.4m shell with an integrated deep spa at one end. Unlike other combos, the pool and spa share one continuous fibreglass moulding rather than two shells joined together. Perfect for families who want a full swimming pool plus proper hydrotherapy in one architectural feature.

Can I run the spa hot without heating the whole pool?

Yes. Every combo uses a three-way valve system with independent temperature controls. The spa can be heated to 38°C in 30–45 minutes for a Friday-night soak while the pool sits at ambient temperature. You can also engage "cascade mode" where heated spa water spills into the pool, gradually warming the pool during shoulder-season months.

Which combo suits a typical Central Queensland family block?

The 7.9 Sanctuary Combo is our most-quoted for standard suburban blocks (Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone). The Fusion 8 suits families who want the swim length of a full pool. The 5.1 Plunge Combo is popular for smaller Yeppoon coastal blocks and courtyard installs.

Is the combo more expensive than a pool + separate spa install?

Yes — but usually less than the difference you'd think. A combo is one crane lift, one excavation, one plumbing run and one warranty rather than two of everything. Compared to adding a spa later as a retrofit, a combo is almost always cheaper.

Are all 14 Bi-Luminite and Vivid colours available for combos?

Yes. Every combo configuration — Fusion 8, all four Sanctuary Combos and both Plunge Combos — is available in any of the 9 Bi-Luminite 3D shimmer colours or the 5 Vivid solid-marble finishes. Same colour throughout the pool and spa since it's a single shell.

Does the combo carry the full Compass warranty?

Yes. One shell means one warranty — the full 25-year structural warranty covers both the pool and spa zones together. Vantage self-cleaning (if fitted) covers both zones as a single system.

Can I add Vantage self-cleaning to a combo?

Yes — Vantage in-floor cleaning is available on every combo configuration. Because pool and spa are a single shell, the Vantage system covers the entire body of water as one integrated cleaning zone. Highly recommended for combos since the spa water tends to develop chemistry differences from the main pool.
